Tyrus Upshaw (Head Coach)
Tyrus grew up in East Texas where he learned basketball at the age of 14 from a former National Basketball Association (NBA) player. It was then that Tyrus knew that he wanted to have a future in basketball. Tyrus played high school basketball, but never got the chance to pursue his career as a basketball player. Since 2005, he has been coaching. Through his training and development of fundamentals of basketball, he has taken teams to the playoffs for several years. As an assistant coach, he helped his team win the Kitsap Championship in 2011. Shortly after, Coach Ty was asked to coach for a Bremerton team
in the Amateur Athletic Union. During that eight week stint, the team went from losing every game by double digits, to wining the most competitive teams Tacoma has to offer. In May of 2011, Coach Ty decided to start his own youth training and development program (Playmakers Basketball Club). Here he is giving “at-risk” youth, a chance to excel athletically as well as academically. His education-based program has quickly become one of the most highly regarded training programs in Kitsap County.

Ric Joseph (Assistant Coach)

Ric is a former Division I College Basketball Player. He brings to the table many years of coaching experience; i.e., he’s served as a
Semi-pro Men’s Basketball Coach, a Junior High School Basketball Coach, and as a Recreation League Coach. Ric is also a current Youth Mentor in the Kitsap County area.
